Stop by and see an oil painting set in Bird Rock

Bird Rock resident and professional artist, Richard Warner, has an oil painting on display in Bird Rock's Starbucks. If the scene looks familiar it's because the subjects are sipping coffee and visiting in front of the same Starbucks on 5604 La Jolla Blvd. I contacted Richard to find out what inspired the painting and he revealed it involves his wife's daily Starbuck visit. On her way to work she frequently ran into "the boys". He became curious about "the boys", so one morning he went down to Starbucks to see her extended family for himself. The painting shows their typical morning grouping. He added, "capturing everyday experiences is very interesting to me, as those moments are the ones that we will treasure with fond memories."

Erosion Impacting Bird Rock Neighborhood Landmark and Namesake

This weeks La Jolla Light newspaper interviewed Bird Rock Resident, Don Schmidt, about the erosion impacting "Bird Rock". The Bird Rock neighborhood's namesake geological formation is offshore at the end of Bird Rock Avenue. "One of these days, there's going to be a big wave that comes in, and when it does, the rock is going to collapse," predicted Schmidt, a Bird Rock resident and La Jolla Historical Society member who has watched the rock literally "washing away" the last couple of years." Bird Rock design talent

Bird Rock resident and design firm owner David Robinson often receives rave reviews for restaurant design interiors. A local projects include, Roppongi & Jack's La Jolla. In addition to commercial design, Robinson only accepts one residential commission a year. A stunning example is the Lawrence home, set high above La Jolla Shores it resembles a nautilus shell opening to the west. His unique perspective and merging of indoors/outdoors are worth experiencing. Be sure and check out Pacifica Del Mar and Stone Brewery/Bistro Gardens .
